Hall Of Fame trainer John Hawkes, head of the super-hot Team Hawkes stable, says he has not made any special plans for exciting three-year-old Not Listenin’tome.
The son of Dylan Thomas has only raced four times but has shown outstanding ability.
He is first-up on Saturday in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick, coming off a gallant second to super-colt Zoustar in the Group 1 $500,000 Coolmore Stud Classic at Flemington on Derby Day last year.
“He’s fine but one step at a time with him,” Hawkes told Racing Network.
Not Listenin’tome is owned by leading Hong Kong trainer John Moore, but Hawkes told RN he has been assured the horse will be staying in Australia for the autumn.
“He’ll be here through the autumn,” Hawkes said matter-of-factly.
He is also very happy with comeback filly Real Surreal, resuming in the Group 2 $175,000 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m).
“It’s been a long time since she raced and she’s right at the upper level (of competition) here, but she has trialled well in preparation and hopefully she’ll run well.
“I hope we get a dry track,” Hawkes added.
The Randwick track was rated a ‘heavy 8’ on Thursday morning following Wednesday’s deluge in Sydney, but the track will dry out with forecast fine weather for the next few days.
