Ibicenco, the OTI Racing horse who won at long odds at Caulfield on Saturday, will now pursue a Caulfield Cup path.
OTI Racing’s Principal Terry Henderson said on Monday that Ibicenco and beaten favourite on Saturday, Pakal, would now go to the Naturalism Stakes at Caulfield, trying to get free run into the Caulfield Cup.
The winner of the Group 3 $150,000 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) also wins a ballot-free entry into the Caulfield Cup.
“Peter (trainer, Peter Moody) was really happy with Ibicenco and he’ll now go to the Naturalism,” Henderson said.
The Mick Price-trained Pakal was heavily backed but was caught wide early and had little luck before running third in the Slickpix Stakes.
“Mick was happy with him and he ran well under the circumstances.
“He’ll go to the Naturalism as well,” he added.
The other long-priced OTI Racing winner on Saturday was Lidari, who is likely to take a different path.
“There are a few options with him but he will probably run in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes next at Moonee Valley,” Henderson revealed.
“He’s a quirky horse but he has a lot of talent and he’ll run at the Valley,” he said.
