Kelinni On Trial For Royal Ascot

Kelinni can shore up a Royal Ascot start with a victory at Goodwood on Saturday night.

The Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock-owned Kelinni, now trained in the UK by Marco Botti, is entered in two races – the Celebration Stakes (2800 m), where he’s the top weight with 60.5kg, and the Listed Tapster Stakes (2400m), where he has 57kg.

ATB proprietor Darren Dance said Botti is undecided at this stage what race to run Kelinni in. The horse was trapped deep when a first-up sixth, beaten about 10- lengths behind Gatewood in the Listed Buckhound Stakes (2400 m) at Ascot on May 10.

It was Kelinni’s first start for Botti after ATB purchased him from Chris Waller’s stables after last spring.

Dance said if Kelinni wins at Goodwood he will possibly progress to the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He said that Caulfield Cup runner-up Dandino will run in the Hardwicke Stakes while Tac De Boistron will start in the Ascot Gold Cup.

Dance said former German horse Seismos, which debuted for ATB during the Dubai carnival, is likely to resume after Royal Ascot.

Dandino, Kelinni and Seismos have all been targeted towards the Melbourne spring.
