Licence Suspension Lifted For Bathurst Cup Meeting

Racing NSW has temporarily lifted the suspension imposed on Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing, enabling the Club to run its Cup race meeting on Sunday, 23 February 2014.

At this time, the lifting of the suspension applies only to this meeting and Racing NSW will have personnel on hand to assess the Club on its management of this raceday. At the conclusion of this assessment, a decision will be made as to the future of the Bathurst Club.

“As this is one of the feature meetings of the year for Bathurst, Racing New South Wales understands the importance for the Club of the meeting proceeding,” said Racing NSW Chief Executive, Mr Peter V’landys.

“While we are seriously concerned about the events of 1 November last year and the loss of the race meeting on 17 January which led to suspension of the Club’s licence, this provides Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing the opportunity to demonstrate that it has its house in order and can professionally conduct a race meeting for the benefit of punters and participants,” Mr V’landys added.
