It would appear many Brisbane punters don’t think the win by Famous Seamus in the Group 1 BTC Cup last start was a fluke.
The Noel Mayfield-Smith-trained five-year-old was a $21 chance in the BTC Cup, but he has been the subject of a serious betting plunge in (Saturday)’s Group 1 $650,000 Doomben 10,000 (1350m).
When markets opened on Wednesday afternoon, Famous Seamus was listed as a $41 chance, which in hindsight was probably too generous.
Yet, in the 48 hours since, he has continued to firm to the point where he is now marked a $7.50 chance, after at one stage trimming into $7.
Famous Seamus has won nine of 29 starts.
The Darley-owned Knoydart has had some backing ($12 into $9) as too has Rebel Dane ($5 into $4.80).
