Lord Van Percy Goes To Zipping Classic

UK stayer Lord Van Percy will run in Saturday’s Group 2 Zipping Classic at Sportingbet Park.

Terry Henderson, whose OTI Racing races Lord Van Percy, said the horse is over the small setback that saw him miss the Lexus Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day and with it any chance to run in the Melbourne Cup.

Henderson said Lord Van Percy, who finished fifth behind Big Memory in the Herbert Power Stakes (Protectionist finished fourth), had the credentials to acquit himself well.

Kerrin McEvoy will take the ride on Lord Van Percy.

Henderson said Au Revoir, who finished eighth behind Protectionist in the Melbourne Cup, was on the shortlist for the Hong Kong Vase.

He said the Andre Fabre-trained horse would be entered for the Zipping Classic as a safeguard if the Hong Kong trip did not proceed.

Au Revoir will join the Peter Moody stables when his current campaign ends.

Renew, a close second behind Grand Marshall in the Visit Victoria Plate (2800m) on Melbourne Cup day, will run in the Sandown Cup as will Grand Marshall.

Henderson said Count of Limonade, winner of the Moe Cup, would be entered for the Zipping Classic, but would only start if there was cut in the ground.
