McDonald Delighted With It’s A Dundeel’s Final Gallop

James McDonald gave It’s A Dundeel a glowing report following his last serious gallop ahead of Saturday’s Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick.

McDonald travelled to Warwick Farm for the hit-out and described it as the best the multiple Group 1 winner has ever felt.

“He worked over a shade shorter than 1400m, we worked quietly early and then picked up from the 1000m and then picked up again three furlongs out and his work was very strong,” he said.

“Obviously his partner couldn’t keep up with him and he is the best he has ever felt to me, he is definitely peaking for the right day, they don’t work any better than that.

“It could be his biggest moment in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, he has been an exceptional horse and it will be my proudest moment if we can get him over the line.”

A field of 12 accepted for the $4 million race with heavyweights Carlton House, Silent Achiever, Boban, Sacred Falls, Royal Descent, Hawkspur and Green Moon all present.

It’s A Dundeel remains on the third line of betting at $5.50 behind Carlton House ($3.50) and Silent Achiever ($4.60).
