Overreach To Miss Spring

Tommy Berry believes Gai Waterhouse has made the right decision to send Overreach to the paddock despite the Golden Slipper winner winning a barrier trial on Monday.

Waterhouse ruled Overreach out for the spring on Tuesday morning, indicating the talented filly is currently going through a growth spurt and would be saved for the autumn carnival.

“She had to be a bit stronger this preparation if she was going to make that next step and I think she is still growing,” Berry said.

“Her trial yesterday was better than the first but it was still short of what we know she can do.

“Tipping her out now will give her every chance to come back in the autumn, I think it is a good decision.”
