Peters Pair ‘In Terrific Shape’ In Vic

Danny O’Brien says that he’s ‘very pleased’ with Western Australian gallopers Inspirational Girl and Superstorm, who have recently been transferred to him from Grant and Alana Williams.

O’Brien was entrusted with the pair by prominent owner Bob Peters ahead of their spring campaigns.

“They’ve come over in terrific shape, Grant and Allana have put in a really good race preparation into them, so they’ve come over here very fit and very well, and they’ve taken the travel well, and they’ve settled into their new surroundings really well,” O’Brien said.

Inspirational Girl will be competing outside of WA for the first time in her career this preparation, while Superstorm did most of his racing in 2020 on the eastern seaboard, including placings in the Australian Guineas, All-Star Mile and Toorak Handicap.

In other stable news, O’Brien said that the cancellation of jumpouts at Geelong on Wednesday wouldn’t disrupt the spring preparations of horses like Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare, dual Derby placegetter Young Werther and 2019 VRC Oaks heroine, Miami Bound.

“It’s obviously still a fair way out from the spring, so it’s not the end of the world,” he said.

“They’ll definitely go to a set of trials that are going to be at Flemington on Monday, 9th August, which is still a couple of weeks away. Whether we get one into them before then, this time of the year you’ve really just got to play it by ear as to what’s available.

“They’re all working really hard down on Thirteenth Beach, fitness is not an issue with them.
