Rating Confirms Bivouac Plans

Bivouac’s elevation into the top handful of racehorses in the world has confirmed Godolphin’s desire for him to continue an extraordinary family legacy of being a dual-hemisphere stallion.

Bivouac’s breathtaking Darley Sprint Classic win at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival forced his international rating to 125, leaving just three horses who recorded higher ratings for their peak performances in 2020.

Godolphin Australia’s manager director Vin Cox said the world stage now beckons for Bivouac, who can earn the right to follow his sire Exceed And Excel as a stallion for the breeding seasons in both Australia and in Ireland.

“His father was by far and away the best-reverse shuttle stallion of all time and we’d love to keep that legacy going,” Cox said.

“This would not only be fantastic for the business but also, to race the horse in front of Sheikh Mohammed our principal, would be wonderful.

“If he was to win in Dubai or Europe it would be fantastic for the Australian organisation and Godolphin generally.”

Cox said there appeared an obvious path for Bivouac in 2021.

“We’ve loosely talked about it, although it’s a long way off, but it would include something like a Lightning Stakes here then up to Dubai for the Al Quoz Sprint and then to Europe.

“We could go to Royal Ascot and then worry about it after that. Of course, that’s all in an ideal world and as we know things with horses can change, but we’d love to take that on.”

As for the horse himself, Cox said he was glowing after his peak performance earlier this month.

“He’s just thriving,” he said. “Mentally he’s very sound and the horse just continues to mature without being gross.

“He’s an ideal candidate to keep racing on.”

Also rated on 125 was Classique Legend for his Everest victory while Nature Strip remains on the 124 he earned for his T.J. Smith Stakes triumph.

Sir Dragonet is equal 28th in the world after rising to 121 following his Cox Plate win.
