Astute New Zealand trainer Donna Logan has declared she has worked her ATC Australian Oaks runner, Rising Romance, harder than normal.
“It’s going to be a very heavy track on Saturday, it will be really tough out there,” Logan told TVN (Tuesday).
“I’m very pleased with her work. James (rider, James McDonald) got off her (Tuesday) morning and he was pleased with her work, that’s what we want,” she said.
“She worked over 2000-metres (Tuesday), which is more than we would do at home,” she added.
Logan said the New Zealand Derby runner-up had improved dramatically since her first-up fourth in the Storm Queen at Rosehill Gardens on April 5.
“Better than I had hoped, yes, she has really improved,” Logan answered when quizzed on the filly’s condition.
Logan said the heavy track was a query.
“It holds lots of fears for us, she has never been tested in these conditions,” she said.
