Gerald Ryan can see no reason why Rubick will have any trouble getting around Caulfield for the first time in Saturday’s Blue Diamond Prelude.
Already favourite for the $1 million Blue Diamond, bookmakers opened Rubick around $2 for the Prelude and punters have already reacted, trimming his price to $1.80 for the fixed odds market.
Rubick has nicely in gate two and Ryan believes it is a myth that Sydney horses can struggle at Caulfield for the first time.
“The draw just makes things a little easier, I wouldn’t care if he drew barrier 16,” he said.
“You blokes (the media) make it a bigger problem than what the horse does, the media talks about, it doesn’t make a difference.
“Cavalry Rose was there two days before and won, Mrs Onassis won there the first time she looked at the track, Hurricane Sky had never seen Caulfield and he won the Blue Diamond first-up.
“It is a media fallacy in my opinion.”
