Gerald Ryan declared the Galaxy handicaps weigh heavily against Snitzerland in the Group 1 at Rosehill on Saturday.
Snitzerland, runner-up behind Bel Sprinter in last year’s Galaxy has second top weight of 56.5 in the $400,000 feature.
Bel Sprinter, who hasn’t won since his emphatic Galaxy win, has top weight of 58kg while Challenge Stakes winner Villa Verde has 53kg.
“On weights she can’t win,” Ryan said.
“Villa Verde meets us one kilo better for beating us half a length in the Challenge and Famous Seamus meets us two kilos better and we finished less than a length in front of him.”
Ryan said if Snitzerland doesn’t run in the Galaxy there is an option of going straight to the TJ Smith Stakes or freshening the mare and head to the Brisbane carnival for the Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm on April 26 and the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) a fortnight later
The Anthony Cummings-trained Villa Verde drops one kilo to 53 kg in the Galaxy while New Zealand mare Irish Fling, which won the Group 1 Telegraph (1200m) on January 18, has the minimum weight – 52kg.
