Sadler Wants To Study Weights For Sir Rupert Clarke

Linton, the last start winner of the $1.38 million Stradbroke Handicap, is not a certain starter in Sunday’s Group 1 $400,000 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.

Trainer John Sadler said he wanted to study the weights before making any decision on a start in the 1400-metre handicap at Caulfield.

“He’s the top-rated horse at 110 so he’ll carry the top-weight, whatever that will be,” Sadler said.

“I suspect the bottom weight will be 52, but I just don’t know what he’ll get, and I want to have a good look at all the weights before we decide whether to run or not,” he added.

Sadler said he had entered Linton in the Group 1 $400,000 Moir Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night as a back-up, if he decided that Sunday’s weight in the Sir Rupert Clarke was not suitable.

He said the horse had come back from a break in very good order.

“He’s had two jump-outs at Flemington and he’s in really good shape, ready to go,” he said.

The weights for Sunday’s meeting will be released on Wednesday morning.
