Snitzerland Set For Melbourne Features

Snitzerland, arguably Australia’s best sprinting female with the retirement of Black Caviar and Ortensia, is being set for Melbourne’s feature sprinting races.

When you also consider Sea Siren is now racing in Europe, apart from Goodwood Handicap winner Platelet, Snitzerland is at the top of the female sprinters in Australia.

“There are four races in Melbourne we are looking at with her but I reckon she’ll only run in three of them,” Ryan said.

“The races are the McEwen Stakes, the Schillaci, the Manikato, and the Patinack Classic on the last day of Flemington,” Ryan told RN.

“And the two races she will probably run in will be the McEwen and the Manikato,” he said.

The 1000-metre $220,000 McEwen Stakes is run at Moonee Valley on September 14, and the $1 million Manikato Stakes (1200m) is also at Moonee Valley run on October 25 – Cox Plate Eve.

“She has really come back well and whatever she runs in she will be very, very competitive,” he said.

Ryan was also sticking up for Charlie Boy, who competed well in all three of the Sydney Triple Crown races for two-year-olds.

“He’s come back very well, I’m impressed with what he’s doing and he could be a real player in the Spring,” Ryan said.

Charlie Boy will also come to Melbourne where his first-up mission will be the Group 2 $220,000 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on September 7.
