Owner David Moodie will bypass Saturday’s Australian Guineas as he thinks of the long term future of his quality filly Solicit.
Moodie said Solicit, a $5 second favourite in most Guineas betting markets, would have her next start in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on March 8.
He said the Oaks placegetter would then head to Sydney where she will either run first in the Phar Lap Stakes or Coolmore Classic.
“I’m just thinking long-term, I’ve always been inclined in that direction,” Moodie said.
“Second-up, capacity field, 1600 (metres) and you could draw bad. I just don’t want to bottom her out.
“I’ve just taken a long term view to it. She has her life ahead of her and she is probably not as seasoned as we would want to see her yet.
”We will just go the softer route.”
Solicit opened her summer campaign with an impressive all-the-way win in the Group 3 Vanity Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on February 15.
Co-trained by Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra, Solicit has won three of her eight starts and ended her spring campaign with a third, beaten in a three-way photo, in the Crown Oaks behind Kirramosa.
