Red Tracer, aiming to shoot her prizemoney total past the $3 million mark, will be one of two Chris Waller runners in Saturday’s Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm.
Waller will start Red Tracer and Velrosso in the $1.36 million Group 1 with stablemate Catkins almost certainly heading to the Dane Ripper Stakes on the same program.
Nash Rawiller will be searching for his eighth win on Red Tracer, a winner of $2,371,010, while Hugh Bowman, who returns from Hong Kong for the meeting, rides Catkins.
Red Tracer and Catkins haven’t started since finishing third and sixth respectively in the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes at Randwick on April 19.
Saturday’s five winners at Rosehill took Waller to 152 city winners for the season and took the prizemoney won by horses he has trained past the $20 million mark.
Catkins will be shooting to give Waller his third successive win in the Dane Ripper. Red Tracer has won the past two renewals.
Liam Prior, racing manager for Waller, said the aim had been to separate Red Tracer and Catkins until their ultimate Brisbane winter carnival goal — the Group 1 Tatts Tiara at Eagle Farm on June 21.
Prior said no jockey had been booked for Velrosso.
