Streama Will Fly The Flag For Locals

Top class mare Streama will relish a return to Warwick Farm when she tackles Saturday’s feature event of the afternoon, the $175,000 Pro-Ride Group 2-Warwick Stakes (1400m).

Trained on the track by the astute Guy Walter, Streama has an outstanding record on her home course with two wins and five placings from seven starts – those two victories being in Group Two events, the Furious Stakes (1400m) and the Surround Stakes (1400m).

Streama showed she is right on track for a big first-up performance with a resounding Rosehill barrier trial win from classy performers Sacred Falls, Sincero, Hawkspur, Shoot Out and Foreteller.

Rain Affair (Nash Rawiller) is an easing favourite for the Warwick Stakes ($1.60 out to $1.80) following strong support for Streama and stablemate Toydini. Streama (Glen Boss) is now $6 (was $8.50), whilst Toydini (Peter Robl) firmed sharply from $21 in overnight markets to now be $9.50.

Meanwhile, ultra-consistent mare Unimpeachable will take her first step toward spring riches when she lines up in Saturday’s $85,000 JDC Flooring Handicap (1300m).

Unimpeachable has not raced since finishing third to subsequent AJC Oaks winner Royal Descent in the Group 3-Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick in April.

The mare had been a model of consistency finishing placings in three of her previous four starts before that, which followed a Kembla Grange victory over 1400-metres.

Trainer Joseph Pride has given Unimpeachable two barrier trials in preparation for Saturday’s assignment and despite her pattern of normally racing back in the field, the four-year-old should be finishing hard over the concluding stages.

“I have a bit of time for Unimpeachable,” Pride declared. “She’s a really talented and consistent mare. I have no doubt she’ll perform well first-up.”

Unimpeachable is on the fifth line of betting for the race at $8.50, with the Gerald Ryan-trained Windswept (Brenton Avdulla) at $3.40 heading the market from Casual Choice (Jim Cassidy, $4.20), Reunite (Hugh Bowman, $4.80) and Snitzsky (Serg Lisnyy, $6).
