Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Today’s Racing At Rosehill (15th Jan)

From Peter Robl

Horse: Finally Realise
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 4, Midway Hcp) I gave him three trials and had him ready to go (first-up) and it’s just disappointing when you are beaten by such a small margin (last start at Kensington). But that’s racing for you and I was proud of the way the horse ran all the same and it’s put nice fitness into him for this Saturday. He drew favourably (gate 3) but he won’t want the track any worse than a Soft 5 to run because he just doesn’t seem to appreciate a heavy track. He maps very well with Gary Portelli and Kristen Buchanan’s horses running, I imagine Sky Command will lead and Eyewitness will probably roll along with it and so Finally Realise should just lob in the one-one and get all the favours.

From Lyle Chandler

Horse: Banju
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, Highway Hcp) Banju has an admirable record of three wins and eight placings from 14 starts. Drawn out (gate 14) and up in weight but he’s never worked better than the other morning. Definitely progressed and you don’t shy away if you don’t draw while they’re in winning form and eligible for that level of prizemoney. Two weeks ago, Banjo carried 55kg to win a Kensington Track 1400m Class 3 race and the conviction of his win under some adversity suggests the rise to 57.5 kg won’t be a problem. And neither will the rise to 1500m in another class 3 in town.

From Edward Cummings

Horse: Amiche
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 7, Schweppes Hcp) She will get a dream run from barrier 4. She’s ready to run a good race on Saturday and she’s very handy in the wet. It’s an opportunity for us to see if she’s good enough to measure up to those borderline Listed races because there’s a few of those types in this race.

From Gary Portelli

Horse: Sky Command
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 4, Midway Hcp) I think the 1200m is the perfect race for her out of barrier 5 and with a claim. The trials have been good and the only negative I can put on the horse is that she is a really good wet tracker. Hopefully she can get through this race and win it then we’ll set her up to get some black type in the autumn. We’re hoping the autumn is a wet one and is usually is over Easter, so that will be the plan of attack.

From Joanne Hardy

Horse: Endangered Species
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, Highway Hcp)  We bought him in an online Inglis auction in November 2020 for $25,000. He’s been a good buy, he’s certainly paid his way. A win on Saturday ($46,400) would definitely put us a long way in front. He’s in good form at the moment and we’ll see how he measures up with the rise in class to Highway grade. He should get a run (in the Country Championships qualifier heat), he’s a 61 rater. But I think it’s important to bring him down and take him for a trip away and see how he goes stepping up.

Horse: Real Time Warriors
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 5, Hyland Race Colours Hcp) He’s an honest horse and he probably didn’t deserve to be 150-1 that day (last start). Unfortunately I didn’t have a dollar on him. He’s a better horse on top of the ground and he’s a better horse when he doesn’t carry a lot of weight.
