Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Today’s Racing At Rosehill (Sat, 4th Dec)

From Claire Lever

Horse: Diva Bella
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 5, Midway Hcp) Short of her preferred trip, hopefully the front runners will set a solid tempo from the get-go and (Tyler) Schiller is able to position his mount no worse than midfield from the tricky alley (gate 13), saving Diva Bella for a strong dash to the line. She’s going super at the moment. (Saturday)’s run is a bit of tick over for the Summer Provincial Final, but I still think in saying that she will run a really good race tomorrow (Saturday). She’s pretty versatile, but she gets through the wet pretty good.

From Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott

Horse: Shihonka
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 1, Cabra-Vale Diggers Hcp) She was a dominant first-up winner at Wyong before failing in a high pressure Group 3 at Caulfield but bounced back off a freshen up to score over 1200m at Rosehill on November 17. It’ll be good to see her do it but she doesn’t need to be ridden in a manner to conserve to see it out. I was a little surprised to see she was beaten for speed there last start. It was good to see her settle. It gave us the confidence that she could see the extra trip out if we wanted to step her up to 1400m in time, rather than being an out and out speed filly. Maybe naturally up in trip she might be able to be a bit more prominent and from that draw (gate 6) that might force her to take things up and we wouldn’t be afraid to do so.

Horse: Snitzonfire
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Sprint) He’s been fantastic. We gave him that freshen up to potentially give him the opportunity to make it up to the Magic Millions. We didn’t want to deny him anything because of the level of improvement he kept showing each time he stepped out last time. The form around him has been great and he deserves a chance like this. With the improvement he is showing who is to say he can’t improve again. It’s hard to get a guide on his trial, it was a soft trial and he went to the line a bit untested. He appears in good order and I guess the only sticky thing is dropping to 1200m. Other than that you can’t knock what he’s done to date.

From Kristen Buchanan

Horse: Jazzland
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 7, Cabra Bowls Hcp) Josh (Parr) usually rides the horse, and he rides him really well, but he wasn’t available. The opportunity came up to have Hugh (Bowman) on and he’s a genius. I only put him on the right horses – and when I can get him obviously – but I think his strikerate for me would be terrific. With Hugh on, he’s just got that clock in his head that is really critical to this horse because he’s got a high cruising speed. I found that he is a much better horse fresh. He puts everything into his runs and he needs a good recovery time afterwards.

From Gary Moore

Horse: Much Much Better
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 10, Smithfield RSL Club Sprint) He’ll chase his fourth win since joining Moore’s team. He’s been great for the stable. When Tim (Clark) rode him he said he thought he’s a horse that likes to drop in third or fourth and chase, and that sounded good to me. But I thought to myself the way he works of a morning, he leads the work, I thought he was going better like that. On his work going into this race he has improved and he looks great. We’ve still got some leeway to go to another (BM)88 after this then look for a stakes race.

From Edward Cummings

Horse: Amiche
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 10, Smithfield RSL Club Sprint) The five-year-old is a half-sister to Duais. She was a recent acquisition for the stable and boasts a perfect record for her new stable – one start for one win. Duais is a bit more straightforward but we’ve had her from day one, so we have been able to control a lot of those urges that she has had. But she is a stayer, so I think she wants to relax, whereas Amiche is a sprinter, so she is naturally a bit more bubbly. We can get to stakes grade when she is ready and she has proven herself. She is probably two wins away from doing that. Hopefully, Saturday is one of those and depending on the program and how well she goes on Saturday, it might dictate what we do next time out.
