Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 4, Midway Hcp) His last win was almost two years ago. While McCormack struggled for form last season, he has enjoyed a resurgence this year and is knocking on the door for another win. He is happy and he’s sound. I think he will race really well this prep. He has raced really well his last couple of preps, he has ticked over fine and he’s in a really good space. It looks like it is going to be wet, which he doesn’t mind. It probably brings the others back to him. It was a good run (first-up) and he was a tad unlucky. If he had got the split a bit earlier it would have been better, but he worked to the line well. He has a sound second-up record and from barrier nine for Keagan Latham.

Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 2, Highway Hcp) This filly just might be something special, lovely tall and leggy been winning well on raw ability and keeps progressing super. And I’m confident she can (run well). The unknown is how heavy the track plays, but she was dominant on a soft seven, the dam handled rain-affected so that’s encouraging. Conceding experience and weight is always a task for a three-year-old filly and Highways are always hard to win. But on the other side of it’s still a class 2 country, the upside is there. She’s drawn (gate 9) and her 1000m form will see her on-pace at 1200m. She sat off the speed in her last win, and got right over the top of them, so she’s adaptable. Obviously, this is a lot stronger form race but she deserves a crack for connections the way she’s progressing.

Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 8, TAB Hcp) If you stop thinking about it in human terms and treat the horse the way he is you wouldn’t know that he’s coming up to his 12th race start for a preparation. He’s a very economical horse to work with. He’s not giving the riders the feel of a tired or flat horse. You’ve got to use the situation when it becomes available. He’s a simple horse to get along with. He never sees a white rail any other time, he’s in the paddock in the afternoon after he’s done his work. He’s got a pretty charmed life and obviously it suits him. He’s very fit, he cleans up his feed every morning and afternoon and it’s just a matter of having a bit of luck in the race and hoping by that stage of the day he’s able to run on.

Horse: Zouson Boy
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 1, Furphy Hcp) Zouson Boy has the addition of blinkers for a rematch with Vinnie’s Spirit in the Furphy Handicap (1400m), though he would like to see a drying track. An easy maiden winner at Kembla a month ago, the gelding was beaten four lengths by Vinnie’s Spirit at Newcastle but he endured a torrid run after missing the start and being forced to race wide. He was a bit slow away there at Newcastle, when he won at Kembla he was allowed to stride along and was dominant. He had to come out around them with a sustained run. There’s only a couple of two-year-old races left and 1400m suits.
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 7, Victor Ludorum @ Darley Hcp) The lightly raced and in-form Brimstone is to forgo midweek racing and test that potential up in grade at Rosehill on Saturday. I think at this time of year, the horse is on the up, what do you do? Stick to a midweek race or have a dig with no weight. He handles these types of tracks and I think why not have a go. At Rosehill I don’t like to be giving horses too much to do, I like to be somewhere up on the speed. I think we will stick to his pattern and have him up close as he can be.

Horse: Flag Of Honour
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 1, Furphy Hcp) There was plenty of expectation surrounding the two-year-old when he stepped out for the first time on his home track three weeks ago, on the back of an eye-catching trial, and he didn’t let supporters down coasting to a 1-1/4 length win. It’s a good test coming from a provincial maiden, albeit against older horses, to a Saturday two-year-old race but I think he will hold his own and run very well. He’s a nice horse, he’s still very raw and got a bit to learn but he does look a mile, mile plus, horse in time. Once he got into his stride he was good. There looks to be a bit of tempo and he’s drawn off a little bit so he will be back in the second half.
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, Bowermans Hcp) He will give away a bit of start from his draw (gate 10) but I think he will hit the line well and set up for his prep. I think there is a bit of upside. He will be better again over a bit further and if he gets through the ground he will be strong late.
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 10, FAB Industrial Logistics Hcp) There’s no hesitation in backing up Snowzone in the FAB Industrial Logistics Handicap following a game 2nd behind Conscript last weekend. He just loves the wet ground so we will take advantage while it is there. He was good the other day, I thought for a couple of strides he had the leader covered but it found and he was still brave.

Horse: Renaissance Woman
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 1, Furphy Hcp) Renaissance Woman made up many lengths to break her maiden at Scone last start and she has a bright future. I think she is a very promising staying filly. I just wish it was 1500 (metres) on Saturday but it is going to be wet and demanding and that is going to suit her.
Horse: Shades Of Rose
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 10, FAB Industrial Logistics Hcp) Resuming at the same venue a fortnight ago, the filly reacted badly when her saddle slipped shortly after the start. She’s got an odd shape. She is a big-framed filly and she has really grown since she first came into the stable. It was just one of those things so hopefully it doesn’t happen next time. Shades Of Rose has since won a barrier trial without incident. Rachel King partnered her in the trial and will have the race day ride. Her work has been really good since and she has been nice and relaxed. She has got a lot of ability.
