Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Today’s Racing (Sat, 27th Jun)

From Jason Coyle

Horse: Maui Girl
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 4, Rosehill Bowling Club Hcp) I’d like to see the track improve a little more, I’m not sure right in the heavy range is her best surface, but the step up in trip is perfect for her. Going back to the speed map there is a bit of pressure around her so we will leave it to Nash (Rawiller)  to figure out where her most comfortable position is early. The way she’s won over shorter distances in an ideal world if she could dictate an 1800m she’d be tough to get past.

Horse: You Make Me Smile
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 5, De Bortoli Wines Hcp) It looks like there’s plenty of pressure there. He’s not going to be too far away but we’ll leave that to Tommy Berry. We brought him back at this time of year because we generally see soft tracks and it looks like this winter we are going to get rain affected surfaces all the way through. I want to see him race well, he has won first-up before but he generally puts in a good run and improves off the back of it and sets himself up for a couple of really good runs. The five-year-old has two barrier trials and he’s finished 2nd in both. Both trials have been good, he’s typically a very good trial horse. Whatever he does off the back of a nice break he is going to improve on and as long as he races well we are happy.

Horse: Terwilliker
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, Stayer’s Cup) Terwilliker ran 5th in the Stayers Cup last year and the gelding is a more seasoned stayer now and is racing in superior form. He’s a durable sort of a fellow. I thought his run last year was pretty good, the track was heavy that day and he got further back and maintained his effort all the way to the line. I think his recent racing pattern will be better in this sort of race and I think he is in better form and better shape altogether. We will be positive out, everyone has different ideas and I don’t think you can nail yourself to one thought but he will look to be in the leading group.

Horse: Time To Reign
: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 5, De Bortoli Wines Hcp) It’s been a long time getting him back to where we want him and I think he’s 110 per cent ready to go this weekend after two trials. He had a good workout (Tuesday) morning and we’ve got him as good as you can get him going into his first run back from a spell. Glen Boss jumped aboard Time To Reign in a trackwork gallop over 800m on Tuesday. He was very happy and said that’s how a good horse should work, so hopefully he can put it together on the weekend.
