Tips From Zeb For San Domenico Stakes Meeting

Saturday is a nice day’s racing at Rosehill. There are some good horses returning and even a potential superstar or two engaged. It is always an exciting time of year because there is always the risk on the whether or not the good two-year-olds have comeback well as three-year-olds. Because of this we generally get good odds about potential superstars; sometimes they win by 6 and the good two-year-old form holds up and sometimes the boom horses flop. Good luck on the weekend and hopefully the below info can steer you in the right direction.

Aussies Loves Sport (race 1 number 5). This colt has been a little bit disappointing, well really disappointing considering he has had four starts, started favourite in every one of them but is still a maiden. But the colt has run into heavy tracks, he has found trouble in small fields and has been unlucky, then unlucky again. He despite being favourite has never run a bad race. He has the talent to break through sooner or later and at $9 this week he is probably worth a risk.

Lady Krovanh (race 3 number 7). We may have missed the boat with this mare considering she has won her last two, one at $10 and one at $20. This week she is at $8, but she is a mare in form and she really has been winning impressively. Gai’s import and the Cummings dynasty horse are the two hardest to beat.

Catkins (race 5 number 2). This mare might be really good this time in. She is a winner and when she doesn’t win, she is very hard to get past. Two preps ago she beat the really promising Snowden horse Sessions. That form is easily good enough to win this race. And who can doubt Chris Waller? He originally nominated this mare for both Sydney and Melbourne; this is not surprising considering the mare is three from three first up. Waller clearly knows she is ready to pounce and he has settled on this race as a starting point.

Sidestep (race 6 number 1). This is the potential superstar. He is $3.50 right now, but that is only because the ‘comeback mystery’ is rife. If he has comeback well then surely natural class gets him over the line in this race. He was the runner up in the Slipper after an average run. The start before that he was dynamic. He looks the best bet on the card, but be sure to have a look at him in the yard if you can. But really, Snowden is a master; he would not kick off one of his best horses in a Group race if it was not ready.

Good luck.
