Tips From Zeb For The Warwick Stakes Meeting

Race 1. Travolta has been running really well with really big weights but just missing out. He is fit and should give a good sight tomorrow. Sacred Flyer has been running in similar races with medium weights and finishing in front of Travolta. On the weights tomorrow Sacred Flyer again has an edge in the weights with Travolta having 61.5kg compared to his 58.5kg. One of these two should win but don’t discount Lucripetous who is also in great form. Race book order for mine…

1st. 1. Travolta

2nd. 2. Sacred Flyer

3rd. 3. Lucripetous

Race 2. Not really sure on this race. There are four horses all that could be favourite plus two others in single figures.

1st. 9. Canny Ballad

2nd. 1. Charing Cross

3rd. 8. Australian Star.

Race 3. Royal Descent won her last race, a Group One no less, by ten lengths. She is very high up in the Caulfield Cup markets, but is the 1300m of this race just a little short of her best distance?  She has never won at the track or the distance, but you don’t win a Group One by ten if you are no good. No Looking Back has been training the house down at Tulloch Lodge and from a good barrier she might be hard to run down. She is unbeaten at Warwick Farm and has recently beaten the likes of Zaratone and Skytrain. This is a tough one… dead heat maybe.

1st. 3. No Looking Back

2nd. 1. Royal Descent (see if a bookie will give you odds on a dead heat!)

Race 4. Sweet Idea has had six starts for two wins and four placings. She never runs a bad race and was not far behind Overreach in the Golden Slipper. She is tough and hard and looks very hard to beat in this race. Twilight Royale has ran first or second at each of her five starts. However she looks better suited over the longer trips (this race is 1200m). And don’t forget Greytfilly. This filly has so much talent but she can’t get out of the barriers. However the stable has had her working very hard to remedy and if she jumps, she has a turn of foot late in her races that is breathtaking. Don’t be surprised if she jumps out of the ground late.

1st. 1. Sweet Idea

2nd. 4. Greytfilly

3rd. 2. Twilight Royale

Race 5. It is hard to go past Waterhouse again here. Pitcrew is unbeaten, and in his last start he looked 10,000-1 to win, with a furlong to go but he did. It was similar style of win to what Pierro used to produce. Drago is a nice horse who is a two-year-old winner over 1800m. He has a big future and will be primed for this first up run.

1st. 5. Pitcrew

2nd. 4. Drago

Race 7. Unimpeachable has form around Royal Descent and can run on really well from the back off a hot speed. This mare is usually good fresh and she can definitely run well in this race. Windswept has had two starts this time in beaten by a combined total of less than a length. The entire has form around some really good ones and will be very hard to beat on Saturday. Fort Sumter beat Windswept at his last start at huge odds so he cannot be left out.

1st. 10. Unimpeachable

2nd. 9. Windswept

3rd. 8. Fort Sumter

Race 8. The best race of the day. Norzita is a star and won first up last time in. She is a Group One class mare and will be a big player in the spring. Ichihara is a speed machine who has come back stronger and bigger than ever. Her owner Mr Altimonte is also in for s huge spring. Rebel Dane ran Pierro to a nose in a race similar to this during the autumn and Knight Exemplar may have found a new lease on life in a new stable. Then there are Group One winners Appearance, Sizzling and the consistent Riva de Lago. Where to look???

1st. 2. Norzita.

2nd. 12. Ichihara

3rd. 9. Rebel Dane

4th. 16. Knight Exemplar

This is a very hard race but a nice way to close out a good day at Warwick Farm. Good luck.
