Chairman’s Handicap winner Tremec is the sole late entry for the Caulfield Cup.
John Thompson today paid up the $2,750 late entry fee for Tremec, which resumed with a last in the Warwick Stakes last Saturday.
Entries, which cost $350, for the Caulfield Cup closed on August 6.
Last season Tremec won the Listed Randwick City Stakes (2200 m) and then with Craig Newitt in the saddle won the Group 2 Chairman’s Handicap (2600 m), but was scratched from the Sydney Cup.
Racing Victoria chief handicapper Greg Carpenter will release tomorrow week the weights for the $2.5 million Caulfield Cup.
Entries for the Melbourne Cup close next Tuesday.
