David Vandyke is hoping to rekindle the old form of recent stable acquisition Landing, a galloper who showed plenty of promise at the start of his career.
Formerly prepared by Gai Waterhouse, Landing won his first four races including the Listed South Pacific Classic before injury forced him out of action for more than 12 months.
He has since had two starts but never matched the early expectations and has since been transfered to Vandyke after being purchased by his clients.
Landing settled off the pace in his first trial for Vandyke and found the line strongly to defeat Casual Choice at Warwick Farm and again worked to the line nicely to win a 1030m heat over Hidden Kisses at Rosehill on Tuesday morning.
“He has done nothing but impress us with both his trial performances and he will head to a benchmark 85 over 1400m on Saturday week at Randwick, which should be a suitable race and Sam Clipperton will more than likely ride him,” Vandyke said.
“A couple of my clients purchased him and we are very happy to have him in the stable.
“He is an older horse who is benefitting from a change of environment and we are keeping him away from the track most days.”
