Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller will have six runners in Saturday’s Group 1 $3 million Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick.
Boban will lead his team with Glyn Schofield to ride, and Waller says he will back the horse up in the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) a week later.
The stable’s official statement (Monday) says the run over the mile this Saturday will help him settle over the 2000 metres of the Queen Elizabeth a week later.
Waller will also run Hawkspur, Royal Descent, My Kingdom Of Fife, Sacred Falls and Weary in the Doncaster.
Like Boban, Hawkspur will also run in the Queen Elizabeth a week later and Jim Cassidy has been booked to ride him in both races.
Royal Descent will also run in both races, with Nash Rawiller booked to ride, while last year’s Doncaster winner, Sacred Falls, will also run in the Doncaster and the Queen Elizabeth.
Hong Kong’s leading rider Zac Purton has been engaged to partner him in both races.
Tommy Berry will partner Weary after booked rider, Craig Newitt, graciously stood aside so Tommy could take the rider for owners Geoff and Mary Grimish, who were big fans of Nathan Berry.
