Leading trainer Chris Waller has advised Racing NSW stewards that Catkins will wear winkers in Saturday’s Queen Of The Turf Stakes.
Catkins wore blinkers when a dominant victor in the Emancipation Stakes last start but will have a gear change on the advice of leading jockey Hugh Bowman.
“Mr Waller indicated the gear change had been the recommendation of Hugh Bowman who believes it will assist in helping Catkins settle better in the event over 1600 metres and assist the mare finishing off its race,” Racing NSW stewards said.
Catkins sits at the top of betting for the $1 million fillies and mares race at $3.20 just ahead of stablemate Red Tracer ($3.80).
Three-year-old filly Solicit is on the third line of betting at $4.80 with impressive Carbine Club Stakes winner Gypsy Diamond next at $7.50.
