YPR Raceday – Royal Randwick on Saturday July 27

This Saturday’s Royal Randwick race meeting will see one lucky young patron walking away with a share in their own racehorse!

To celebrate their inaugural raceday, Young Professionals in Racing (YPR) – in association with Trainer Connections – will offer a 5% share in a racehorse which any YPR members who have joined before 3pm on Saturday (27th July) are eligible to win.

YPR’s chairperson, Kathryn Thomson, said the raceday is an exciting occasion for the group: “Not only do our members have access to the new Royal Randwick Members Reserve, they also have a chance at winning a share in a racehorse.

“We have some amazing partners working with us this year and look forward to delivering a diverse range of events over the next six months, such as trackwork sessions, Hunter Valley stud tours, racedays, punting education, fashion

The share in the colt by Dubleo (USA) from Celebrity Status will be drawn at 3pm on raceday with the horse to be prepared at Warwick Farm by YPR director, Michael Costa, of New Breed Racing.

The prize includes six months training fees along with the opportunity to be part of naming the colt, selecting his racing silks and enjoying unique raceday benefits with YPR and the New Breed Racing team.

To be in the draw, patrons must be a financial member of YPR prior to 3pm on Saturday (27 July). Membership is $50 per year, with full details on – www.ypr.com.au

“YPR membership is tremendous value and provides members access to exclusive events and opportunities, while generating new social and professional connections within a network of young, likeminded racing enthusiasts,” explained Ms Thomson.

“Upon joining, YPR members receive a pack that includes an Australian Turf Club (ATC) guest pass providing racecourse entry and Members Reserve access to Royal Randwick on July 27.

“Racecourse gates open at 11am and members are invited to join the welcome drinks in the exclusive Owners Pavilion before the first race, with Fox Sports presenter and ATC ambassador, Ben Damon hosting.
“Special guests are Tommy Berry and Bjorn Baker, with YPR also hosting a function at the Imperial Hotel in Paddington to continue the festivities after the last race,” added Ms Thomson.

The feature event of the afternoon is the $85,000 Young Professionals in Racing July Sprint (1200m) where, in an open market on TAB fixed odds, the favourite is in-form sprinter Pentasia ($4.60) from Soledad ($5), My Destiny ($6.50) and See the World ($8).

Pentasia, a Christian Reith mount, won a Listed Race at Doomben (1110m) three starts back and finished third to Youthful Jack in the LR-Ramornie Handicap (1200m) at Grafton last time out. The mare has built an imposing record under the care of trainer Marc Quinn with eight wins and five placings from her 18 starts.

Youthful Jack ($12) will again meet Pentasia with the evergreen Robert Thompson aboard but meets Pentasia 2.5kg worse for beating her in the Ramornie.

An interesting runner is My Destiny who will carry bar plates. The gelding was beaten only a length by Master Harry and Zaratone (Rosehill Gardens winner since) in his first run for 18 months and will have the services of Tommy Berry who recently returned from a riding stint in Hong Kong.

Australian Turf Club’s 8-race program commences at 12:35pm with the track rated slow (6) and the rail placed in the normal position.
