Hong Kong Racehorse Top Weight For The Standish

Good Ba Ba, the former Hong Kong champion racehorse and three time winner of the Hong Kong International Mile, has been given top weight in today’s Group 3 Standish Handicap, 1200m.

The eleven year old is now trained at Caulfield by veteran Rick Hore-Lacy, who sends him to Flemington to shoulder topweight of 60.5 kg in the Standish Handicap, the annual New Year’s Day dash down the straight six at the headquarter.

John Yuen, owner of Good Ba Ba, brought the gelding out of retirement earlier this year and having contemplated racing him in Macau only to abandon the plan and instead sending him  to Rick Hore-Lacy at Caulfield.

From his 46 starts Good Ba Ba has won 16 times and been placed in nine other races. He’s also won Yuen around $A9.34 million as he claimed the Group 1 Hong Kong Mile three years in succession and was Hong Kong’s Horse of the Year for 2007-08.
