Magic Millions Turnover Continues To Soar

Real Surreal’s victory in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic has demonstrated the strength of the M.M.yearling sales.

Real Surreal (Real Saga x Stolen Beauty, by Mossman) was passed in as a yearling at the 2012 Magic Milions Gold Coast sale from the Robyn Wise draft with a $75,000 reserve and has now earned over $1.59 million.

The turnover on this year’s yearling sale continues to soar. Sale gross grew to $55,782,500, up almost $4 million on the first three sessions last year.

The average price sits at $133,771 and the clearance rate has improved to 81 per cent.

Day 1 top sellers were both by Coolmore sire Fastnet Rock, a filly out of  Legally Bay and a colt out of Liberty Rose. Both lots went for $500,000 and both were purchased by Gai Waterhouse and bloodstock agent James Harron

The top lot on Day 2 was a Fastnet Rock colt out of  a son of the Mister C mare Smart Company offered by Lomar Park Stud, and was purchased by Coolmore Stud for $1.35 million.

A Redoute’s Choice colt from Group 1 winner Apercu topped Day 3 at $800,000. Consigned by Newgate Farm, the colt was purchased by Sydney trainer John O’Shea.
