Amazing Galileo Has Been Hailed As One Of The Great Stallions Of All Time

Coolmore based stallion Galileo (Sadler’s Wells x Urban Sea, by Miswaki) has another amazing year in which he landed a fourth sires’ championship in the UK.

Galileo’s best progeny is without doubt the highest rated thoroughbred in the world, the unbeaten champion Frankel (Galileo x Kind, by Danehill), who has won all his 14 starts and scored a Timeform rating of 147.

But the great stallion has also sired 34 other stakes winners include Eclipse Stakes hero Nathaniel ( Galileo x Magnificient Style, by Silver Hawk) and his full-sister the G1 Irish Oaks winner Great Heavens, and the reigning Epsom Oaks winner Was (Galileo x Alluring Park, by Green Desert).

Galileo’s progeny earnings in Europe in 2012 were £7,201,067, nearly double those of the second placed sire, the late Montjeu.

His 2009 stud fee was 175,000 Euros and in both 2012 and 2013, his fee was listed as “private” by Coolmore, an honour shared by his sire Sadler’s Wells.
