The 2011 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom has won the $US 10 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan on Saturday night.
Animal Kingdom who is owned in partnership by Australia’s Arrowfield Stud and US-based Team Valor International after the stallion was purchased by Arrowfield supremo John Messara three months ago for a future southern hemisphere breeding career, won the 18th running of the world’s richest race by two lengths in 2:03.21..
The horse who finished 2nd to Animal Kingdom was none other than the 2011 Melbourne Cup runner-up Red Cadeaux.
Animal Kingdom now has a career record of five wins in 11 starts with earnings of $8,387,500.
