The BMW Stakes winner Fiveandahalfstar is out of the 2013 Australian Derby and has robbed the public a much anticipated showdown with fellow 3YO It’s A Dundeel.
The Anthony Cummings-trained stayer injured his off-fore fetlock during last Saturday’s BMW win at Rosehill, and Cummings has opted to spell his stable star instead of pushing on into the autumn.
With Fiveandahalfstar out of the Derby, New Zealand champ It’s A Dundeel is all set to complete the 3YO triple crown and will start the Derby as a raging odds-on favourite.
