It’s party time at Dubbo this Saturday when the race club hosts its hit93.5 Derby Day that serves as an entrée to Daily Liberal Melbourne Cup Day three days later.
“It’s Dubbo’s biggest party – two racedays that the City really gets behind each year,” enthused Dubbo City Turf Club’s general manger, Vince Gordon.
“The drought has affected many people in the bush and these couple of racedays gives everyone something to look forward to, whereby they meet up with friends for a chat and just chill the day away.
“We have a Fashions on the Field which is round 4 of the Gift Closet Fashions Series and multiple marquees available and raceday entry online, or patrons can pay at the gate.
“There’ll be live music with Rennie Adams, who was a finalist in The Voice, and buses available to and from the track as well as after-parties right across the City.
“And it’s another big day on Tuesday with a Fashions on the Field contest and a number of hospitality options available.”
Dubbo is one of four country racetracks celebrating Derby Day and the inaugural running of the $7.5 million Iron Jack The Golden Eagle at Rosehill Gardens.
Balranald also races on Saturday with live entertainment and a Melbourne Cup Calcutta following the race meeting.
“Gazebo and marquee packages are available for booking with a Fashions on the Field, children’s activities and entertainment available throughout the day,” said Balranald Race Club’s Donna Renfrey.
Berrigan & District Race Club will hold its Berrigan Gold Cup Day with a large crowd certain to be in attendance.
BDRC’s Janine Murphy said: “It’s a very popular meeting with a live band playing all afternoon and ample free parking.
“We have a six-race meeting with full TAB and bookmaker services, as well as a big-screen TV for NSW and interstate races.
“There’s great prizes and cash to the value of $3000 on offer for the Fashions on the Field competition and a reserved public marquee available.
“We must remind patrons there is strictly no BYO alcohol permitted on-course or in the car park, with bar facilities available trackside.
“Buses run from Finley, Cobram, Tocumwal and Yarrawonga with a small courtesy bus running all day around Berrigan and an ATM is available at the track.”
And to round out the Derby Day quartet, Tumut Turf Club has a raceday and will provide music by Andrew Wortes, a Tumburumba Wine Bar Experience with Xpeak Wine, and kiosk, bar and TAB facilities.
