Snitzerland Performance Remains A Mystery

Snitzerland’s well below-par performance in the Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide last Saturday remains a mystery with trainer Gerald Ryan waiting on blood tests to determine whether she continues her autumn campaign.

Ryan said Snitzerland pulled up well after the race and he was mystified by the result.

“It was the worst run of her career,” Ryan said.

“She was so bright and well before the race and just as good after. She looked even better than she did in Sydney.

“We’re still waiting on the results of blood tests. If they reveal something wrong she will go to the paddock.”

The 3YO filly was odds-on ($1.65) to claim her maiden Group 1 victory  but could only finished seventh, beaten three lengths, in the race won by the Darren Weir-trained Platelet.

Ryan has indicated that if Snitzerland’s blood tests show no abnormalities, then it is likely she’ll push on to the Group 1 Goodwood handicap (1200m) on May 11.
