Barrier draws have been conducted by the Singapore Turf Club last Thursday for today’s two Group 1 international races at Kranji.
Victorian trainer Jason Warren remains upbeat about Bel Sprinter’s prospects in today’s Group 1 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m) despite the gelding drawing barrier 10 in a field of 11.
Warren said that Bel Sprinter would return to Melbourne, ‘win, lose or draw’, after his Singapore assignment.
“We’d look at the Manikato Stakes and probably a run either side of that and, all being well, head to Hong Kong in December,” Warren said.
Meanwhile, Mawingo drew favourably for his tilt at the Group I Singapore Airlines International Cup (2000m). The now Michael Freedman-trained 5YO will jump from barrier 2 in a field of 13.
However Freedman said that Mawingo, formerly trained by his brother Anthony, had a task ahead in the Singapore International Cup.
“He is a bit picky with his feed and this is one of the hottest Cups in years,” Freedman said.
Freedman, who has been in Singapore for five years, said he believed Mawingo would be better suited in lesser quality races in Singapore in future. The former German galloper will stay in Singapore with Michael Freedman after Sunday’s 2000m race.
Freedman also has Super Easy and Mr Big in the KrisFlyer Sprint
