Australian sports legends partner with Australian Turf Club this Saturday at Royal Randwick for the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation Raceday – one of Sydney racing’s longest-standing charity events.
The Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation and a variety of businesses and supporters return to the Royal Randwick Ballroom to continue an almost 20-year partnership with Sydney racing.
The Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation was started in 1998 by former Australian Cricket Captain, Mark Taylor; rugby league legend the late Reg Gasnier; Olympian, Raelene Boyle and triple Australian Rules Brownlow Medallist, Bob Skilton.
The Foundation will induct a new sporting legend at Royal Randwick on Saturday – popular Australian cricket star and fast bowler Merv Hughes.
Among other sporting figures to support the day include Rugby League great Mark Coyne, Rugby Union Wallaby Sterling Morlock, NRL superstar James Tedesco and Australian cricket star Ellyse Perry.
Raceday sponsors aiding the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation include Fujitsu Air Conditioning, Wilson Asset Management, Taylor Construction, Uphire, Precise Air, Canterbury League Club & PF Civil.
On another big Saturday with 136 entries over 10 races, the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation will hold a function and fundraising event to raise awareness for young cancer sufferers and their families. Tickets to the day remain available here
Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation Director, Jack Hughes, said: “We are delighted to again join with the Australian Turf Club at Royal Randwick for what is one of our biggest events every year.
“The catering teams and events staff at the Australian Turf Club are second-to-none and always make this event a wonderful day of racing and entertainment.
“The Foundation has raised well in excess of $15 million to help children with cancer and their families to stay at home for as long as possible whilst still receiving treatment.”
Australian Turf Club has launched a series of special ticket prices and new raceday hospitality options throughout the Sydney Winter racing season.
General Admission tickets across the Sydney Winter season from 28 May start from $17 each via early group bookings at www.theraces.com.au with a 20% discount for Concession Card holders, and all pensioners admitted half price at the gates.
Customers can make further major savings with the new Sydney Winter Racing Super Pass at just $79.
The Sydney Winter Racing Super Pass allows General Admission entry to the next 16 Saturday meetings, from 28 May to 10 September, including Group 1 Winx Stakes Day at Royal Randwick, Chelmsford Stakes Day at Royal Randwick, and Run To The Rose Day at Rosehill Gardens.
Australian Turf Club is also opening the Winter Chalet on two racedays at Royal Randwick – Saturday 23 July and Saturday 6 August – which offers racecourse and entry into the popular The Stables on Level 4 of the Queen Elizabeth II Grandstand.
The Winter Chalet includes a winter cocktail menu, whiskey tastings and an introductory ATC Membership experience for the day including all extra benefits of ATC Membership. Tickets available here
