Racing in the city moves to Warwick Farm this weekend, the first major Saturday meeting at the track since March, for Share Care Raceday. An eight race program sees one of the highlights of the day kick off in the first race with the clash between Pitcrew and Amovatio.
Pitcrew, the Gai Waterhouse-trained son of Sebring has won impressively in both his city starts and as a consequence, leads the pack carrying 59kg. Pitcrew will start from barrier two and Nash Rawiller will again have the ride.
Amovatio loomed up to win when the pair last met at Rosehill but couldn’t match Pitcrew in the last 100 metres. Amovatio will be ridden by Hugh Bowman fresh back from holidays.
The two jockeys have settled down to their own tussle for the metropolitan Jockeys premiership with Rawiller making significant inroads into Bowman’s lead over the past fortnight, with only a handful of wins now separating the pair.
Race two, the Share Care Directors Sprint (1000m) will see debut winning Snitzel’s Jewel resuming after the Gerald Ryan trained filly was spelled in February. Snitzel’s Jewel will face off against two other debut winners: Paul Messara’s Buttons and Matthew Smith’s Short Shift.
Race five, the Share Care Support Centre Sprint (1300m) will be Adabelle’s second start for trainer Tim Martin after the three-year-old filly won by two lengths on debut at a Canterbury Park mid-week event in June. Adabelle will be ridden by 3kg claimant Yusuke Ichikawa.
Saturday’s staying event, the Share Care Liverpool BM79 (2200m) will be a competitive affair with an evenly matched bunch of stayers which include Chris Waller’s Black Jag and Madam Nash, along with David Payne’s Diamond Jim.
The final event for the day features 18 acceptors including Motspur, McClintock, Relaxed and Happy and Australian Star – all are quality sprinters and will provide plenty of value to those that can find the winner in what is a strong finish to the day’s racing.
Gates open at 11am. Warwick Farm was rated a slow (7) at the time of acceptances with fine weather forecast in the lead up to Saturday.
