Neasham Out To Cause Mighty Upset In Stradbroke Handicap

Trainer Annabel Neasham has a strong hand across the Stradbroke Day card at Eagle Farm, but her main focus in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap could be the import Mighty Ulysses.

“He’s a hard horse to be confident with,” Neasham admitted, “but he was very good winning here over the mile.”

Despite his long odds, Neasham believes Mighty Ulysses can cause an upset: “He’s a very good horse… beaten less than a length in a St James’ Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.”

The key will be the tempo of the race. “A ferocious tempo will allow him to relax,” Neasham said. “Hopefully they go quick.”

Neasham remains tight-lipped on her favourite for the Q22, a race where she has five entries including Doomben Cup winner Bois D’Argent.

“They all worked really well,” Neasham said of her Q22 runners. “We’ve targeted this carnival with these horses and they all ran well in the Doomben Cup.”

Neasham could also have a say in the JJ Atkins Stakes with Bosustow, last week’s maiden winner.

Mighty Ulysses is one of the outsiders in the market with betting apps with Ladbrokes pricing the import at $61.
