New Rider For Amelia’s Jewel

Berry is the new rider for Amelia’s Jewel who is weeks away from launching the next phase of her career under trainer, Annabel Neasham.

Amelia’s Jewel earned national acclaim for previous trainer, Simon Miller, winning nine races from 16 starts and $3.3 million in prizemoney.

Signature victories came in the Group 1 Northerly Stakes (1800m), Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) and Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) at Ascot.

Last year in Melbourne she won the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington and broke the track record in a thriller against Pride Of Jenni in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.

She also finished runner-up twice to Overpass in Perth’s richest race: the $5 million Quokka.

Amelia’s Jewel transferred to Neasham’s Warwick Farm base after finishing 12th of 15 in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville last May.

Berry said he’s thrilled to be linking up with Amelia’s Jewel.

“I’m very excited,” Berry told The Races WA.

“I’ve obviously watched her from afar.

“I recall that run at Moonee Valley against Pride Of Jenni and hasn’t that form stacked up.

“I’m hoping I can continue on her success.

“It’s an opportunity I’m looking forward to.”

Berry has yet to lay eyes on Amelia’s Jewel at Warwick Farm, but said the feedback from Neasham has been positive.

Berry said the plan is to trial Amelia’s Jewel in the next couple of weeks before launching her return at Randwick on September 7.

“Annabel said she can’t believe how well she looks and how well she is going,” Berry said.

Berry will soon follow in the footsteps of Pat Carbery and Damian Lane as the only jockeys to have ridden Amelia’s Jewel throughout her career.
