Five Diamonds Ladies Day will be held at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday (9th Nov). The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with light showers in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will border on Good/Soft condition on raceday.
Speedster Passeggiata will have conditions to suit in the Ranvet Handicap (Sydney Race 2, 1100m). This Bjorn Baker-trained 5YO has a lot of early speed and it’s a positive that Rachel King is returning to steer the horse. The mare was outclassed when 8th in the Alinghi Stakes last start and the drop in grade on Saturday will also suit. She will be fitter being third-up on Saturday and she handles any track conditions. King will go forward and sit outside Confess Our Dreams and Passeggiata will be the one they have to catch.
Class mare Magic Time could well be the one to beat in the Hot Danish Stakes (Sydney Race 7, 1400m). The 5YO had won the All Aged Stakes back in the autumn and she has returned in great order finishing just over a length behind Right To Party in the Gilgai Handicap before being runner-up in The Invitation a fortnight ago. She handles any track conditions and she has a terrific record over 1400m with three wins and three placings from six attempts at the trip. The in-form Zac Lloyd will take over the rein and Lloyd will settle just behind the leaders and Magic Time will be ready to pounce rounding the home turn.
Last start winner Lindermann can continue his winning form by taking out the Five Diamonds (Sydney Race 8, 1800m). The Waller-trained 5YO didn’t do a lot when resuming in the unsuitable Alan Brown Stakes (1400m) before he came into his own with victory in the Craven Plate (1800m) when stepping up in distance. The gelding handles Soft tracks and he loves Rosehill having won three times from four starts at the venue. Champion hoop Joao Moreira is a key booking. Moreira will settle somewhere mid-field with plenty of cover and Lindermann will fly down the long Rosehill straight.
