Singapore Missions For Schofield

Singapore will prove to be a home away from home over the coming months for Cox Plate-winning jockey Chad Schofield.

Schofield has been booked to ride at five upcoming feature meetings in Singapore, as the racing industry there prepares to shut down in October.

The proven international rider will team up in all five features with Australian expat trainer Tim Fitzsimmons, beginning on Sunday when he partners Lightning Strike in the Group 2 Stewards’ Cup.

Formerly known as Lightning Express, Lightning Strike started his career at Lindsay Park and won a barrier trial at Echuca before making his way to Kranji, where he’s won four races and finished a close-up third at his most recent start.

Schofield will then return to Singapore on four further occasions to ride Golden Monkey in the Lion City Cup on July 28, the Raffles Cup on August 11, the Queen Elizabeth II Cup on September 7 and the Grand Singapore Gold Cup on October 5, which will be the last day of racing in Singapore.

Schofield is no stranger to Singapore racing, having ridden six winners there on previous visits, including two Group-level victories on Golden Monkey last year.
