Chance To ‘Profiteer’ On & Off The Track With Newgate Farm

Goulburn Cup Day is fast approaching (Sunday 5th November) and Goulburn District Race Club is excited to again team up with Newgate Farm on one of its feature races on the day, The Guy Walter.

The Newgate Farm Guy Walter is a class three fillies & mares contest over 1300m and an integral part of the Goulburn Cup program.

This year’s race has added incentive for connections with the announcement that the winner will be offered a service nomination to exciting Newgate stallion Profiteer (Capitalist x Athena Lass).

Goulburn District Race Club’s CEO, Robyn Fife said the renewed commitment by Newgate Farm is highly valued by the tablelands club.

“We welcome Newgate Farm as a second-year partner on The Guy Walter,” she said.

“And the bona fides of the race backed up by the fact that 2023 will be its tenth edition.

“The race shines a light on the legacy of former champion trainer and Hall of Famer Guy Walter.

“And the added potential breeding incentive for winning connections through sought-after Newgate Farm bloodlines ideally complements the $50,000 prizemoney on offer.”

Tony Williams, Director of Stallions at Newgate Farm believes the partnership is a natural fit between both organisations.

“It’s fitting that Newgate Farm support this race. Guy Walter was one of the most respected trainers and people in the racing business, his loss was felt by the entire industry.

“Importantly, we are supporting provincial and country racing, which is the backbone of the industry which Guy was such a big supporter.”

Tony Williams also outlined the exciting potential breeding opportunity that the race partnership will now afford acceptors for The Guy Walter.

“Profiteer is a stallion that Newgate and our partners have high hopes for. He won his first start pre-Christmas at Flemington in scintillating fashion and showed blistering speed to demolish his opponents to win the Inglis Millennium by five lengths.

“Profiteer is standing his second season in 2023 and his progeny certainly have the physical attributes of the champions in the immediate family of his sire Capitalist and his maternal grandsire in champion sire Snitzel. We have the utmost confidence in Profiteer’s fledging stud career.”

Nominations for the Newgate Farm The Guy Walter and the full Goulburn Cup program close at 11am this coming Tuesday 31st October.
