Galileo Colt Tops Tattersalls December Foal Sale

The Tattersalls December Foal Sale concluded on December 1 with Coolmore’s champion stallion Galileo providing the top lot for the sale.

A colt by Galileo (also sire of world champion race horse Frankel) had top the sale at 500,000 guineas. A full brother to the Group 1 2010 Epsom Derby runner-up At First Sight, the colt was consigned from The Castlebridge Consignment and knocked down to Sheikh Fahad.

Sheikh Fahad has famously bought another Galileo colt Hydrogen for 2.5 million guineas at this year’s October sale. Hydrogen, a half brother to the 2007 Epsom Derby winner Authorized, was also from The Castlebridge Consignment and will be trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam.

Overall, 708 lots were sold in the December Foal Sale for a total of 24,132,700 guineas at an average of 34,086 guineas and a median of 20,000 guineas.
