Racing Victoria handicapper Greg Carpenter has penalised Metropolitan Handicap winner Glencadam Gold 2kg for both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups after his brilliant staying display in winning the Group 1 Metropolitan last Saturday.
The penalty raises Glencadam Gold’s weight for both Cups from 51.5kg to 53.5kg. Currently Glencadam Gold is 21st in the order of entry for the Caulfield Cup and 27th for the Melbourne Cup.
The Gai Waterhouse trained stayer is trying to emulate Tawqeet who was the last horse to complete the Metropolitan-Caulfield Cup double in 2006.
