The Chirs Waller trained Kelinni has won the Cup ballot exempt Lexus Stakes beating Dare To Dream by a neck. Kelinni has guaranteed himself a place in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.
Racing Victoria chief handicapper Greg Carpenter has issued no penalty to the Lexus Stakes winner. Kelinni will carry his original Cup weight of 51kg on Tuesday. Sky Sports Radio has reported that Glen Boss has been confirmed as Kelinni’s rider in the Melbourne Cup.
Meanwhile, Southern Speed is out of the Melbourne Cup due to a suspensory ligament injury.
