And since the connection of French stayer and 2010 Melbourne Cup winner Americain confirmed that Damien Oliver has replaced Gerald Mosse as Americain’s rider in the big one, punters have continuously backed Americain and now he’s into Cup favouritism.
Currently, TAB fixed odds have Americain at $5.50 as the favourite, follow by Dunaden at $6.00. Luca Cumani trained Mount Athos is on the third line of betting at $8.50.
Maluckyday is the best backed locally bred horse in the Cup at $13.00, ahead of the 4th placed runner in the Cox Plate, Ethiopia, at $17.00.
