Puissance de Lune has won the listed Jayco Bendigo Cup (2400m) this afternoon. Ridden by jockey of the carnival Glen Boss, the grey settled outside the leader, Fiumicino. The race was over when Puissance de Lune quickened rounding the home turn. He kicked away in the straight and won by 8 lengths.
Gerry Ryan, owner of Puissance de Lune, could have a big week as he is also a part-owner of the current Melbourne Cup favourite, Americain.
Trainer Darren Weir has indicated that Puissance de Lune would bypass the Melbourne Cup and run next in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2500m) on the final day of the Cup carnival.
