Racing Victoria has decided this year to vet the top 35 horses in the Melbourne Cup order of entry to avoid any late scratching on race morning.
Racing Victoria Vets have started examining horses yesterday and the 2 runners under injury cloud, Glencadam Gold and Green Moon have both been passed fit to run. However, international stayer, Winchester, has been found to have mild lameness in the near foreleg.
Now that Green Moon will start in the Melbourne Cup, trainer Robert Hickmott has booked Hong Kong based jockey Brett Prebble for the ride.
